It’s been an insane last few months around these parts. My wife gave birth to our son in December, we’ve moved our shop to a new location and work has been picking up like crazy! We have updated and upgraded all of our equipment. We now run an automatic press along with our traditional manual one. The automatic allows us to put out up to 700 shirts an hour! We are also now able to offer printing on promotional items such as mugs, balloons, pens and other items we haven’t been able to print on in the past. Each week I am going to try and feature one new item as the printing special of the week to showcase some of our new abilities.

In addition, we were recently featured in an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer. We will be posting a video tour of the new shop soon. In the meantime. Here’s a link to the Inquirer article. Enjoy!

Derisory Designs is participating in POST this year with Pterodactyl! Come by Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4 from 12pm - 6pm to check out our studios. You can check out Pterodactyl’s gallery space, tour our studio and maybe even print your own shirt! It will be a good time. So come by and see what your good friend Derisory has been up to lately, we will have our latest projects up and some work done by students of the screen printing class.

We have a guest staying with us this week.

Turns out this guy flew ALL the way from the Bronx to Philadelphia just to check out the space we share with Fireball Printing and all the sweet work we all do. His tag informed us that he’s a part of the American Pigeon Racing Association and is from the Bronx. Paul and Katherine donned him “King Lou.”

We’ve been tweeting about it a little while (if you don’t follow us, hook it up) but we’ll be offering a screen printing class right in our workspace starting September 14th. It’s being offered in two parts, each runs for four weeks on Mondays from 6:30PM-9:00PM and costs $90. It’s pretty good deal, considering you’d be shelling out a considerable amount more take a class through a college, and you’ll be learning from the people who do it every day for a living. You know, the pros.

The classes are in conjunction with our friends at Pterodactyl Philadelphia (a creative art space) who will be offering a host of other classes starting in September. Here’s a quick overview of the course list

We’ve been getting pretty antsy around here lately cramped up in the same studio day in and day out. So we are taking a break from it all. The Derisory Designs Print shop will be closed from Friday, July 31st - Monday, August 10th. All emails will still be answered in a timely manner during that period but production will be shut down. Welcome one and all to the all new Derisory Designs website! Designed by the amazing team at The Black Axe (www.theblackaxe.com) The new site will hopefully help to bring a level of sophistication and professionalism to this otherwise two-bit operation. Here you can follow along with us on our blog, see the latest work in progress from the Flickr feed, tour some of the work we’ve produced for clients in the services section and request a quote for your own printing needs! We will also be debuting our own shirt and poster designs for sale in the shop section. Make sure you sign up for our mailing list to receive monthly updates about the latest happenings in our world as well as special discounts and offers available only to our subscribers!

As for us, we’ve been chugging along for almost five years now and things are going strong! We are currently moving into a larger studio to accommodate how quickly we are expanding. We’ve had the chance to work with a lot of amazing clients in the past few years and can’t wait to see what’s next. We’re going to try to update this blog at least once a week (we need to take a break from printing every now and then) and hopefully we will have some exciting stories for you all to enjoy. We have a lot planned for this upcoming year, including a celebration of our five year anniversary. So check back often for updates!
